The expiry of the patent is calculated based on the filing date of the original patent application. But the CIP priority can be claimed by the original application.
Example-CIP-X-Filing date-20080101,Priority date-20070101
Original patent application(Same Family of CIP-Y)-Filing date-20090101,Priority date-20070101
In the above case the Original patent application of same family of CIP will claim the priority of CIP-X.

What is meant by the statement that in CIP the new material will have filing date of CIP. Does it mean that CIP application will jave a priorty based on CIP filing date and patent term will be 20 yrs based on filing date of CIP and priority date or filing date of original application will not be considered for calculating the patent term

I prefer http://www.patentretriever.com instead which is fast and simple to use to download patents.

I can’t work out where anything is on IPNewsFlash because the site is so poorly designed.
