What is Patent family?

A patent family is a group of related patent publications(applications and granted patents) describing the same invention. The first application filed is priority application, and subsequent filings will list this number.
Patent families are also defined as equivalents or closely related patent families or extended patent families.

Generally as per my experience i have seen patents having the family members are with in the same technology or field. But i found the below 2 patents which are not related even in technology or field.
