IT plays a critical role in health care industry. IT helps people to reach the health services to remote areas. With a chronic shortage of nurses and pharmacists, IT will contribute to making hospital work flows more efficient. Health care provides lot of opportunities for mobile and wireless solution providers, including pharmaceutical sales, hospital operations, prescription and drug management, urgent messaging, medical-equipment sales and service, and supply-chain management.

Privacy and security of patient should be maintained. Several legacy systems should be integrated to provide the better health care services. There are several databases which provide health care information online. Integration of those systems with the mobile user interface applications will make the people use their mobiles for medical data retrieval such as medicines.

According to the USPTO there are mainly six types of patents namely:

Utility Patent-  Issued for the invention of a new and  useful process, machine, manufacture, or composition of  matter, or a new and useful improvement thereof, it  generally permits its owner to exclude others from making, using, or selling the invention for a period of up to twenty years from the date of patent application  filing , subject to the payment of maintenance fees. Approximately 90% of the patent documents issued by the PTO in recent years have been utility patents, also referred to as “patents for invention.”

Design Patent-  Issued for a new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture, it permits its owner to exclude others from making, using,  or selling the design for a period of fourteen years from the date of patent grant.  Design patents are not subject to the payment of maintenance fees

Plant Patent-  Issued for a new and distinct, invented  or discovered asexually reproduced plant including  cultivated sports, mutants, hybrids, and newly found seedlings, other than a tuber propagated plant or a  plant found in an uncultivated state, it permits its   owner to exclude others from making, using, or selling  the plant for a period of up to twenty years from the  date of patent application filing .  Plant patents  are not subject to the payment of maintenance fees.

Reissue Patent-  Issued to correct an error in an already issued utility, design, or plant patent, it does not affect the period of protection offered by the  original patent.

Defensive Publication (DEF)-  Issued instead of a  regular utility, design, or plant patent, it offers  limited protection, defensive in nature, to prevent  others from patenting an invention, design, or plant. The Defensive Publication was replaced by the Statutory Invention Registration in 1985-86.

Statutory Invention Registration (SIR)-  This document  replaced the Defensive Publication in 1985-86 and  offers similar protection.

Free-up Pollution – Essential part in India

Pollution is one important entity in the world which causes major problems to the life of the people and animals. India alone has three of the world’s ten most polluted cities: Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. There will be no doubt that the greater Hyderabad will also join this list that makes four in the top list. Pollution in India is mainly caused due to increase in urban population and the their usage of technology which cause pollution. This is leading to many health problems and i think you all know the average life span of the person in India is decreased to 60 with in a span of 20years. If the same thing continues what happens to the coming generation..

In early 90’s there are vehicles like bicycles, rickshaws, etc which is used for traveling which are free of pollution. But right now there are lot of motor vehicles came into the market and coming into the market which is causing the most of the pollution in the cities. As the people are very much used with this vehicles it is not possible for the people to go back and use the bicycles and rickshaws. The only other way is to use the vehicles which cause zero pollution. Thanks to some of the companies like Tata which is developing a car(MiniCAT) that runs on compressed air which doesnt cause any pollution and initiatives taken by Pizza Hut which is conducting a trial run of the zero-pollution scooters for pizza delivery. We need more these kind of vehicles to make the people live their life with zero pollution.

Market Research Outsourcing – A Profit Making Tool
September 17, 2007, 6:32 am

Market research is the process of systematic gathering, recording and analyzing of data about customers, competitors and the market. Most of the companies are already established in this field. Today, 16% of people are dedicated to market research out of 25,000 employed in the KPO industry in India. Industry players peg the current market research outsourcing industry at around $90-100 million, with the potential to touch $500 million in five years.

Key elements for market research:

  • Find the size (current and future) of the market using present sales of the product and determining the future estimate.
  • Forecast market growth rate using demographic information and sales growth in complementary products from historical data.
  • Determine the profitability for a particular product to know the money earned using that particular product.
  • Find the industry cost structure for formulating strategies to develop a competitive advantage and for value addition.
  • Find existing distribution channels to find how direct they are to the customer and new channels which can offer the opportunity to develop a competitive advantage.
  • Find the new opportunities and threats understanding the market trends.

Importance of market research for a new business:

  • New businesses don’t come from ground; they come from new ideas of the people. A new idea doesn’t mean that you are ready to start your business without knowing the potential of that particular idea and know what people will pay for your idea. This is only possible by market research.
  • Starting a business with your idea may lead to profit or the other way the idea may be crashed. So, researching on your business idea before your business starts is essential.
